Excellence in Care Awards
2018

These awards were launched, to acknowledge, celebrate and reward excellence in care delivery across the whole health and social care spectrum.

We have been overwhelmed by the response to the awards and it was a difficult process to produce a final shortlist and winners, but here they are:

2018 Winners and Nominees

Excellence in Care Award - Manager
Diane Williams - Newbury Manor Care Home (Winner)

Diane has been a Manager at Newbury  Manor  Care  since  May  2014.  During  this  time  her  joy  and  positivity  has  spread throughout the Home and all their staff and residents can think of no better Manager at their Home. Diane welcomes each and everyone of our residents and makes sure she knows about all their interests. She works tirelessly with her team to ensure that our residents get the best out of their care.Malik Khan - Midland Care (UK) Ltd

Malik Khan - Midland Care (UK) Ltd

Malik provides an outstanding  care  service  in  the  area.  He  is  always there for staff and service users when they need him. He allows his staff to spend extra time with service users if they need to meet their needs free of cost. He organised events and trips for service users to give them a Chance to go out in the community and enjoy their  life.  His  services  were  inspected  and  rated outstanding by CQC. Midland Care (UK) ltd is the only outstanding Domiciliary care provider in Birmingham.

Karl  Silvester - Awarding  Care  Ltd  

Karl  has successfully grown Awarding Care from nothing to a thriving business looking after 400+ clients over the last 2 years and employing over 100 staff in the local area.  He  has  recently  opened  the  company's  2nd branch in Dudley. Karl is passionate about care and strives to be the best and provide high quality care, he has done nothing else since leaving school starting as a care assistant and working his way up to Registered Manager of a large care home. Karl is seen by all the staff as one of the team, he doesn't think twice about going out to care calls to ensure no one is left without care.
Excellence in Care Award - Carer
Kerrie Atterbury - Awarding Care Care Ltd (Winner)

Kerrie joined Awarding Care in March 2016  She has had excellent feedback fro
m clients and other carers about her commitment to her role, putting the needs of everyone else first.

Jordan Clifton - Eversleigh

Jordan's colleagues describe her as an outstanding member of the team who is always happy to assist. She is Supportive and compassionate and it is a absolute pleasure to work with her.

Lisa Sutton - Oakview Care Home

Lisa has been in her role as a senior carer for the past three years. She shows her residents on the Dementia Nursing floor compassion and respect at all times and always listens to them and assists in their need
Excellence in Care Award - Other Support Staff
Rita Lindo - Eversleigh (Winner)

Everybody loves Rita! She is always bringing Joy to everyone she meets. Rita is so dedicated to her Job her and her team have achieved  Higher  Gold  infection  control  for  the service. Rita makes a difference to our service users lives.

Tammy  Foster - Oakview  Care  Home

Tammy is described  as  being  more  than  just  the administrator, she is a friend to the residents. She has established a relationship with the local nursery resulting in the children come into the home on a weekly  basis  doing  activities  with  the  residents

Dave Lowe - Halas Homes

Dave always considers the needs of the service users before anything else. He really understands that he is working in a home environment and always considers timings of maintenance jobs and ensures that privacy and dignity for the service user is considered alongside health and safety requirements.

Vanessa  Mason - Avery  Healthcare   

Vanessa is described by colleagues as a True Superstar nothing is too much trouble. Activities are put in each room and onto Facebook so both residents and families can see what is planned ahead of time.


Excellence in Care Award - Oustanding Contribution to Care
Renny Wodynska - Skills for Care (Winner)

Renny is Head of Area (Midlands) for Skills for Care

She has over 20 years’ senior social care strategic and operational management experience, She has developed and led corporate strategies on safeguarding, dementia and falls prevention and is currently leading implementation of Skills for Care's Business Plan across the East and West Midlands region


Debbie Le Quesne, Chief Executive Office of the West Midlands Care Association said: ‘It has been our pleasure to launch this awards scheme to celebrate and promote excellence within the care industry across the region.   In this our inaugural awards year we were staggered at the response we had and it was an extremely difficult process to arrive at a final shortlist.  We would like to congratulate the wiiners, finalistes and extend our thanks to everyone who entered.  Based on this year’s response, the West Midlands Care Associations Excellence in Care Awards can only go from strength to strength!’
